Michael Ikpi Ofem a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Cross River State and currently the Director of SIWES (Supervised Industrial Works Experience Scheme) of the University. He has been the Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering (2016-2019), faculty representative at Graduate School (2018-2020), exams officer, departmental SIWES coordinator, Seminar coordinator among others.
Prof Ofem has a PhD in Composite Materials from The University of Manchester, United Kingdom, M. Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Nigeria Nsukka, a B.Eng. (Mechanical Engineering), Federal University of Technology Owerri, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management, University of Calabar, Nigeria. A COREN registered Mechanical Engineer, Member Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), and Member Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE). His research interest is in natural and bio-composite materials.
