Nigeria Content and Sustainable Technology (Nicost) research team is an innovation-driven team founded in 2020 by Babson Ajibade, a designer, innovator an inventor. The primary goal of Nicost is to design, innovate and produce sustainable Nigeria-content technologies that solve identifiable Nigerian/African problem, while meeting the competitive demands of global forms. Thus, while the innovative technologies developed by Team Nicost centre on the needs of the Nigerian/African social economy, their inherent visual, technical and functional qualities are high-end and global standard. The ultimate aim is to tackle Nigerian and African problems with deployed technological solutions generated from within the nation, that is, as against wholesale importation of technologies from elsewhere. Built around the development of Babson’s technological and innovative designs, the Nicost Research Team is made up of motivated creatives with diverse professional competences. Based in the University of Cross River State, membership of Nicost is fluid, and depends on specific competences needed to deliver particular innovative designs. Thus, each innovative project designed by Babson, and undertaken by Nicost is unique and addresses specific socioeconomic problems. While Nicost is the broad research team, DC-Solar International undertakes the business angle of the technological products and outputs.
