Dr. Rademene Sunday Oria BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD
Lecturer in Anatomy and Neurobiology, Ag. Head of the Department of Anatomy at UNICROSS.

Dr. Rademene Sunday Oria is a seasoned academic with profound expertise in Anatomy and Neurobiology. He earned his BSc (Hons) and MSc in Anatomy from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. He then went on to complete his PhD in Anatomy from the prestigious University of Nigeria, demonstrating a deep commitment to his field.
Dr. Oria currently holds a lecturer position in anatomy with a research focus in neurobiology, and he is dedicated to the education and development of students in biomedical sciences. His teaching portfolio includes courses in gross anatomy, microanatomy, developmental anatomy, and neuroanatomy for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Oria serves as the current Head of the Department of Anatomy at the University of Cross River State, UNICROSS. In this leadership role, he oversees the department's administrative functions, ensures the implementation of an integrated curriculum, and fosters a collaborative environment for faculty and students. Under his guidance, the department has seen significant improvements in student engagement and academic performance.
Dr. Oria has also held several key administrative roles. As Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences between 2021-2023, he played a crucial role in academic planning and student affairs, improving the faculty's overall efficiency and student satisfaction. Additionally, as the Postgraduate Coordinator in the Department of Anatomy (2023-Till date), he managed the postgraduate programs, streamlined the admission process, and provided mentorship to postgraduate students, resulting in higher graduation rates and improved research output.
In addition to his teaching and administrative duties, Dr. Oria has actively contributed to high-quality research. He has several papers in Top peer-reviewed journals. He was awarded a Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) grant for his project titled "Curcumin (Diferuloylmethane) Mitigates Cobalt Induced Hypoxia In Albino Wistar Rat Brain: Histomorphological, Neurobehavioural And Biochemical Evidences." His research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases and the potential therapeutic effects of natural compounds.
Dr. Oria is also deeply committed to student welfare and development. He has provided extensive pastoral care, mentoring students through academic challenges and personal issues, and helping them achieve their full potential.
Throughout his career, Dr. Oria has been an active member of various professional bodies, including the Anatomical Society of Nigeria (ASN), Society for Neuroscientists of Africa (SONA), Neuroscience Society of Nigeria (NSN), International Society For Neurochemistry (ISN), International society to advance Alzheimer's research and treatment (ISTARRT). His dedication to his field and his students makes him a valuable asset to the academic community.
