The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, has expressed satisfaction with the impressive progress and exceptional quality of work at the University's newly constructed ICT/Multimedia Complex following an inspection of the facility.
The inspection, conducted on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in the company of principal officers of the University, project engineers, consultants and site supervisors, underscores the University's commitment to ensuring that all capital projects meet the highest standards of quality, functionality and durability before being commissioned for academic and administrative use.

Reflecting on the project's journey, Prof. Bassey recalled that she handed over the site to the contractor in April 2025. She noted with satisfaction that within a relatively short period, the project has advanced from its foundation to an almost completed state, demonstrating the University's unwavering commitment to expanding modern infrastructure and providing an enabling environment for teaching, learning, research and innovation.

During the inspection, the Vice-Chancellor observed that the building has reached its final stage of completion, with most internal installations substantially completed. The ICT laboratories have been fitted with modern workstations, ergonomic seating, spacious work desks and computer systems securely preserved ahead of installation and commissioning. The laboratories are further enhanced with contemporary wall graphics and well-designed learning spaces that foster creativity, innovation and academic excellence.

The inspection also revealed that the executive and administrative offices have been tastefully partitioned and equipped with premium fittings, including high-quality doors, elegant wall finishes, polished floor tiles and efficient air-conditioning systems, creating a conducive and professional working environment.
Beyond its functional appeal, the facility features inspirational leadership quotations, decorative wall treatments, modern lighting fixtures, and beautifully finished corridors and stairways, reflecting the University's vision of providing a world-class educational environment that inspires excellence.

Externally, the ICT/Multimedia Complex presents an impressive architectural outlook, distinguished by its sleek glass façade with tinted panels, neatly finished exterior walls and strategically installed air-conditioning condenser units. The facility also incorporates essential safety and accessibility features, including reinforced staircases with durable handrails, emergency fire alarm call points, clearly marked exit routes and strategically positioned security surveillance systems.

Speaking during the inspection, Prof. Bassey commended the project managers, engineers, contractors and site personnel for their professionalism, dedication and commitment to delivering a facility that aligns with the University's strategic vision for academic excellence, digital transformation and technological advancement.
She encouraged the contractors to maintain the current pace by completing the remaining finishing works, final cleaning and quality assurance processes to ensure the timely delivery and commissioning of the complex.
