VC URGE STAFF OF FACULTY OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Prof. Francisca Bassey, has commended the staff of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and charged them to keep their flag flying despite the mitigating challenges facing them.

She gave the charge while leading her management team on a tour of the Faculty in her quest to obtain a first-hand assessment of the state of the University's infrastructure.

Speaking, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Wole Patrick Oloidi, appreciated the Ag. VC for coming and identified the following as the basic challenges facing the Faculty; inadequate lecture halls, lack of modelling equipment for Visual Arts, shortage of staff in Graphics, Sculpture and Ceramics, inadequate power supply, shortage of drawing boards and computers, absence of conference halls, non-payment of field trip allowances, need for Faculty building, inadequate furniture and under staffing of the Department of Estate Management.

While responding, the Ag. VC intimated staff that His Excellency, the Governor and Visitor to the University, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, is aware of the multiple challenges of UNICROSS, and "is very ready and willing to address the situation." She, therefore, sued for cooperation from all actors to change the narrative. The UNICROSS Chief Executive further intimated that arrangements are ongoing to source solar electricity from the University of Calabar to hopefully address the poor power supply syndrome in the university.
