The Cross River State Executive Council has approved the clearing and revamping of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) pavilion.
The Council has also approved extensive repairs of the internal road network at the institution’s main campus.
The Council’s approval was announced on Wednesday July 23rd 2025. The approval has generally been described as a landmark stride towards renewed growth and infrastructural transformation in UNICROSS.
It has also been described as a symbolic recognition of the steadfast leadership and monumental contributions of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, to the university’s development.
Her dynamic administration has been characterized by transparency, innovation, and a deep commitment to the welfare of both students and staff.
In addition, this development is seen as a testament of the Cross River State Government’s unwavering commitment to advancing tertiary education and fostering a conducive learning environment for students and staff. By prioritizing the revitalization of critical infrastructure within UNICROSS, the administration of the People's First Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu has demonstrated a keen understanding of the link between world-class facilities and academic excellence.
The repairs and facelift of the university’s facilities will not only enhance the aesthetics of the institution but also improve accessibility, safety, and comfort within the campus.
The broader university community has extended heartfelt gratitude to the State Governor and Visitor of UNICROSS, His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu and the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Hon. Dr. Peter Odey, for what many describe as "support that goes beyond official capacity." Their continuous investments in education underscore their administration's vision of nurturing human capital and creating an enabling environment for future leaders to thrive.
